EFSC wins both cross-country team races at Gulf Coast meet
The men’s first five scoring places totaled 19 points. The women won by three points, showing how two different finishes produced team victories.
Eastern Florida State College won both team races at the Gulf Coast State College Invite in Panama City on October 2. Its men scored 19 points in the 8-kilometer race; its women won the 5-kilometer race with 60, three points ahead of Gadsden State.
The men’s result started with a sweep of the first three places: Jaiden McKee, Robert MacDonald and Lukas Farley. Carson Groh finished fifth and Nasir Washington eighth. Those five scoring places add to 19; runner-up Gadsden State had 78. The score reflects the group’s finishing positions, rather than a points total awarded to the individual winner.
TFRRS lists McKee’s winning time as 25:07.6. The college’s sports-information report describes the result as the men’s first invitational team title and says their next meet is the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee on Friday, October 9.
The women’s margin was much smaller. Their five scoring places—3, 4, 11, 14 and 28—add to 60, against Gadsden State’s 63. Team-scoring places differ from overall finishes: for example, Eastern Florida’s Aubrey Orcutt finished fourth overall but scored three points, with an unattached runner ahead of her.
Results are from the published TFRRS meet tables. The first-title claim and next-meet plan are attributed to EFSC Sports Information.
