A beachgoer found packages described as nearly 40 pounds of cocaine on a Brevard County beach Monday morning, September 28, according to FOX 35 Orlando. The station reported that the finder turned them over to authorities.

In an account published by Space Coast Daily on September 29, Sheriff Wayne Ivey put the amount at 18 kilograms and said a passerby contacted his agency and handed in the packages. Eighteen kilograms is approximately 39.7 pounds, so the two amounts describe the same scale of recovery.

Ivey described watertight packaging marked with jaguar images. His account used a joking lost-property appeal to invite the owner to come forward, with the prospect of a jail stay. That language should not be mistaken for an offer to return illegal drugs without consequences.

The two reports reviewed do not identify a specific beach, name an owner or announce an arrest. The sheriff’s account is not a documented finding about whose boat carried the packages or how they reached shore. This story does not identify a suspect, assign a street value or claim laboratory confirmation beyond the agency’s description of the substance.

Residents with relevant information can speak to a Brevard County deputy about a non-urgent matter at 321-264-5100, the number listed on the sheriff’s official contact page. For immediate assistance, that page directs callers to 911. It also warns that its online contact form is not monitored around the clock.
