Palm Bay police said investigators found no threat to public or school safety at the time of their October 6 statement, after a phoned-in bomb threat prompted a greater law enforcement presence at area schools. The investigation remained active.

The call came to the department’s administrative line on Tuesday, October 6. The caller referred to a school in Palm Bay but did not say which one. Further information suggested an attempted swatting incident, according to the police statement reproduced by WFTV.

Swatting means making a false emergency report to trigger a police response. The department described the call as an apparent attempt; its statement did not identify a caller or announce an arrest. Increased police presence was a response to the reported threat, not evidence that a bomb had been found.

Brevard Public Schools notified families earlier Tuesday, police said. WKMG had reported the district’s initial account of precautionary patrols while police investigated. The later police statement adds the finding about safety and clarifies that the caller named no particular campus.

For campus-specific information, use communications from your child’s school and Brevard Public Schools. The police assessment describes what investigators had determined when they issued the statement; it should not be read as a guarantee about future conditions.
