Our earlier account wrongly described tropical-storm warnings for Brevard County. This historical correction replaces unsupported warning, shelter and quotation claims.
Our October 29, 2025 article incorrectly described Hurricane Melissa as approaching Brevard County under tropical-storm warnings. This correction replaces that account.
The National Hurricane Center’s advisories before and after that article’s timestamp listed warnings outside Florida, not in Brevard County. They described a forecast route across eastern Cuba and the Bahamas toward Bermuda. This correction does not claim that every coastal hazard in Florida was absent.
We have not substantiated the earlier article’s local shelter statements or attributed remarks. Those statements have been removed rather than presented as verified local reporting.
