Palm Bay charter-campus proposal reaches Brevard board on October 6
Pineapple Cove’s Emerald Lakes application is scheduled for an initial presentation. Here is what the agenda establishes and how residents can follow it.
Pineapple Cove Classical Academy’s proposal for a charter campus at Emerald Lakes is scheduled for an initial presentation to the Brevard school board at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 6. The proposed location is in southeast Palm Bay, according to Florida Today’s report.
The board agenda identifies the item as an application presentation, not a scheduled approval vote. It says the school submitted a High-Performing Replication Application. The agenda provides no opening date, enrollment timetable or campus capacity, and lists no attachment for this presentation.
Florida Today reported that a school spokesperson described a K–12 campus planned to open within two years. That is the operator’s plan, rather than an opening date established in the board agenda. The school’s current 2026–27 enrollment page lists Palm Bay, West Melbourne and Lockmar; it does not list Emerald Lakes among those application choices.
For residents following the proposal, the work session is at the Educational Service Facility’s board room, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Melbourne. The posted agenda says the session will air on Spectrum channel 496, with streaming available through the district website and its BrevardSchools YouTube channel.
Attendance does not mean an opportunity to speak on the charter proposal. The agenda limits workshop public comment to the Rule Development portion and to the policy being discussed, with no other public-comment opportunity during workshops. Residents should recheck the meeting page for agenda changes before attending.
The next useful details for families are the proposed capacity, opening schedule and enrollment process. Those are points to look for in the presentation; this agenda alone does not establish available seats or permission to open. Pineapple Cove describes its existing schools as tuition-free public schools.
